Abstract:
A new type of phenyl-substituted dihydrazide α-nucleating agent Sebacic diphenyldihydrazide (DCDH-Ph-8) for polypropylene was synthesized by two-step method. In the first step, sebacic acid dihydrazide was synthesized by using dimethyl sebacate and hydrazine hydrate as raw materials. In the second step, sebacic acid dihydrazide was reacted with benzoyl chloride to generate DCDH-Ph-8. The product was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), 1 H NMR and high resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS). The results showed that the target compound was successfully synthesized. The effect of DCDH-Ph-8 on the crystallization and melting behavior of isotactic polypropylene was studied by differential scanning calorimetry. It is found that the nucleating agent is an efficient alpha crystal nucleating agent for polypropylene, and the optimum mass fraction is 0.06%, at this addition of DCDH-Ph-8, the crystallization temperature of the polypropylene can be increased from 117.7 °c when no nucleating agent is added to 129.2 °c.Key words:
